The Legends Trophy Showdown on NBC

SOUTH BEND, Ind — Announced by NBC on Wednesday, Stanford football and Notre Dame will meet in South Bend for the battle of The Legends Trophy on Oct. 12 at 12:30 pm PT. The game will be televised by NBC and streamed on Peacock.

Stanford returns to Notre Dame looking to reclaim The Legends Trophy that the Cardinal captured in 2022 by beating the Fighting Irish 16-14. October's meeting between the two storied programs will be the 38th all-time meeting. The Cardinal have won eight of the last 14 matchups against Notre Dame.

Both teams play for The Legends Trophy, created by the Notre Dame Club of the San Francisco Bay Area and is made, appropriately, from Northern California redwood with an Irish crystal bowl. The Trophy is named in honor of the 1925 Rose Bowl meeting, which was said by sportswriters to contain more legends on one field than had ever played the game.

The first two games of the 2024 season take place at Stanford Stadium before the Cardinal begins ACC play. TCU comes to town to begin the 2024 season on Aug. 30 with a 7:30 pm kick on ESPN. Then, Cal Poly comes to town on Sept. 7 before an off week prior to the team's first ACC game, a road contest at Syracuse on Sept. 20.
