STANFORD, Calif. – No. 6 Stanford fell to the No. 25 Oregon Ducks 1-0 this afternoon, finishing regular season play with a 42-12 record, and 17-7 in conference play. The Cardinal pitching staff was strong in the loss, allowing just two hits and striking out eight.
Oregon's lone run came in the top of the first inning, after back to back singles for the Ducks.
The two singles were the only hits Oregon would record, as senior Regan Krause finished with 3.2 innings pitched and only the one run allowed. Krause struck out three batters, before giving the ball to sophomore NiJaree Canady.
Canady didn't allow a baserunner in 3.1 innings, striking out five.
Next up for the Cardinal is the Pac-12 Tournament at the friendly confines of Boyd and Jill Smith Boyd Family Stadium. Stanford opens up their postseason campaign on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. PT, against No. 7 seeded California. Tickets are still available at Pac-12.com/tickets, and the game will be streamed on Pac-12 Networks.
