STANFORD, Calif. - The Cardinal is headed back to the NCAA Tournament. Stanford will face off against Denver on Friday, May 10 in Evanston, Ill. in the first round of the national tournament.
The winner of Stanford vs. Denver will face the top-seeded Northwestern in the second round.
Stanford earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Pac-12 Tournament on Saturday. The Denver Pioneers also claimed an automatic bid, winning the Big East Tournament.
The game will be a rematch from the regular season, where Denver topped Stanford in a 10-6 result in Denver, Colo. Stanford is 19-16 in the all-time series record against the Pioneers.
This will be Stanford's 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinal is seeking its third-ever win in the national tournament. Stanford previously advanced to the second round in 2016 in a 9-8 win over James Madison, and in 2013 in a 8-7 win over Notre Dame.
