STANFORD, Calif. - A cornerstone of Stanford’s run of three consecutive NCAA titles from 2017-19 is coming back to The Farm, as Kim Williams ’19 returns as the newest addition to the Cardinal coaching staff, announced by head coach Greg Meehan on Thursday.
It’s an exciting day for our program to announce Kim Williams as our new assistant coach” said Meehan, Stanford’s Paul A. Violich Director of Women’s Swimming. “Kim is a rising star in the coaching profession, has extensive institutional knowledge of Stanford and is someone Katie Robinson and I know and trust. It just feels right having Kim back on The Farm.”
Decorated in her career as a student-athlete for Stanford, Williams led Stanford to three consecutive NCAA and Pac-12 Championships from 2017-19, including being named team captain of the 2019 title-winning squad. Individually, Williams was a member of two national championship 400 medley relay teams and won another NCAA title in the 200 medley relay, garnering a total of six NCAA All-America honors in her career.
A four-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree, Williams collected three career Pac-12 titles and still holds Stanford Top-10 times in three events, including program records in both the 200 and 400 medley relays.
Now, Williams joins the Cardinal staff after one season with California where she helped lead the Golden Bears to their sixth Pac-12 title in program history. Prior to her time in Berkeley, Williams spent a season as a volunteer assistant at Northwestern under the tutelage of current Stanford associate head coach Katie Robinson.

When he offered me the position, he said to me “it’s time to come home” and that could not have resonated with me more. Greg is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in the country and more importantly one of the best people I know. I cannot wait to work alongside him and reunite with Katie Robinson as well. The Cardinal women have a special place in my heart and I am beyond excited to embark on this journey with these women. Feels so good to say…Go Card!"
A native of Bellevue, Washington, Williams completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in political science.
