STANFORD, Calif. – Excelling in the classroom and on the court, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced 17 Stanford tennis players have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Eight athletes qualified from the women's team, while the men's team added nine. Both programs were selected as ITA All-Academic Teams.
In order to qualify for the honor, athletes needed to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher during the current academic year. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, the programs needed to have a 3.2 grade point average or higher.
The Cardinal men wrapped up their campaign with a 19-7 overall record, including a 7-1 mark in Pac-12 play to earn a share of the conference championship along with Arizona. Stanford advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals for the third consecutive season.
The women went 25-3 overall this season and made the NCAA quarterfinals for the 39th time in 42 NCAA Tournaments. Stanford went 7-2 against top-10 opponents in the spring and made a run to the program's third consecutive Pac-12 Tournament title in Ojai, Calif. in late April.
