PARIS - Former Stanford diver Kassidy Cook wasted no time reaching the medal stand in Paris, kicking off the 2024 Olympic Games with a silver medal performance in the 3-meter synchronized springboard alongside partner Sarah Bacon.

The pair scored 314.64 points in the five-round competition for the United States' first medal in the event since 2012, finishing behind the Chinese tandem of Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen.

A two-time Olympian after making an appearance at the 2016 Rio Games, this is Cook's first career Olympic medal. She is also Stanford's first women's diving medalist since 1936, when Marjorie Gestring Bowman claimed gold in the 3-meter springboard at the 1936 Berlin Games.

During her time on The Farm, Cook was a member of two NCAA Championship-winning teams and was a five-time individual All-American, finishing as high as second in the 1-meter dive in 2015. The Woodlands, Texas native was also the 2017 Pac-12 1-meter dive champion, winning two team conference titles with the Cardinal in 2017 and 2018.
The silver medal performance concludes Cook's Olympic program in Paris.
