Men's Academic All-Americans Named

Garrett Brown, Ky Robinson, Kevin Yang, and Cole Sprout were named Academic All-Americans.

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford’s placed four onto the men’s cross country/track and field Academic All-America team as selected by College Sports Communicators.

Senior distance runner Ky Robinson and senior triple jumper Kevin Yang were named to the first team. Junior pole vaulter Garrett Brown was named to the second team and senior distance runner Cole Sprout was named to the third team.

The selections were based on academic performance combined with athletic performance in either cross country, or indoor or outdoor track and field. 

Robinson is a repeat Academic All-American. The senior from Brisbane, Australia, was third in NCAA cross country, and third in the NCAA outdoor 5,000. At NCAA indoors, he was third in the 5,000 and fifth in the 3,000. Robinson won the Pac-12 cross country title and won the 5,000 and 10,000 at the Pac-12 Championships. Robinson majored in management science and engineering and carried a 3.64 cumulative grade-point average. 

Yang, a senior computer science major from Roswell, Georgia, is the 2023 Pac-12 triple jump champion. He carried a 3.71 GPA. Yang placed fifth in the Pac-12 this year and advanced to the NCAA West Prelims, where he placed 13th. 

Brown is a junior aeronautics and astronautics major from Carlsbad, California, with a 3.76 GPA. Brown is a two-time All-American and advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships in the pole vault. His season best jump of 18-31/4 (5.57 meters) and his score of 5,370 in his heptathlon debut placed him No. 3 in Stanford indoor history in both events.

Sprout is a senior symbolic systems major from Littleton, Colorado, with a 3.73 GPA. Sprout was third in the Pac-12 Championships and fourth in the NCAA West Regional in cross country. He went on to place 95th at the NCAA Championships. 

The honors give Stanford cross country and track and field men 29 Academic All-America honors, earned by 23 individuals.
