Henken Earns Bronze

Hans Henken and his teammate Ian Barrows finished third overall in the Men's Skiff at the 2024 Paris Olympics

MARSEILLE, France - Stanford alumnus Hans Henken claimed bronze in the Men's Skiff for Team USA on Friday. The medal was the USA's first medal in sailing since 2016.

Henken and his teammate Ian Barrows began their competition on July 28 and have been on the water each day since. Over the five days of racing, Henken and Barrows steadily climbed the leaderboard with better race results each consecutive day.

Barrows and Henken went from a best finish of seventh on day one to fifth on day two, third on day three, and second on day four. Their combined results netted them a fourth place overall standing heading into the medal round.

The field began with 20 teams represented and only the top 10 advancing to the medal round after 12 races.

Following a day of delay due to poor wind, Henken and Barrows returned to the water on August 2 and secured the bronze medal for Team USA, finishing with 105 points. Spain took first with 86, followed by New Zealand with 100.
