Sheridan Tabbed as Director of Instruction

A 25-year professional in the golf industry, Richard Sheridan joins the Stanford Learning Center staff in a newly created role

Knowles Family Director of Men’s Golf and Stanford Golf Course general manager Conrad Ray has announced a first-of-its-kind addition to the Stanford Golf Course staff, tabbing Richard Sheridan as Director of Instruction at the Stanford Learning Center.

“The Stanford Golf Course and Stanford Learning Center are excited to welcome Richard Sheridan to The Farm,” Ray said. “Richard has shown that he is not only a highly regarded instructor around the world but also a team builder and talented businessperson. We are eager to see the work he can do introducing people to the game and driving revenue through an upgraded experience.”

Sheridan steps into the newly created full-time role, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the instruction staff as the Stanford Learning Center remains committed to growing the game of golf within the Stanford community.

“At Stanford, we pride ourselves in fostering development and we want to take that same approach at the Stanford Learning Center,” Ray added. “Serving the Stanford community through the game of golf is our goal at the Learning Center and Richard Sheridan will be key in shepherding that process.”

A PGA Golf professional from England, Sheridan previously served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Stanford women’s golf program. The Cardinal reached the NCAA semifinals in each of Sheridan’s three seasons on staff, contributing to national titles in 2022 and 2024. Stanford also boasted a back-to-back individual national champion in Rose Zhang (2023-24) and 12 All-Americans during his tenure.

In addition to his time with the Cardinal, Sheridan also served as Director of Instruction at The Olympic Club since the fall of 2017. Gaining experience working for some of the most respected names in golf during his 25-year career, Sheridan’s previous roles include Senior Instructor for the Butch Harmon School of Golf, Lead Coach for the Chinese Olympic Team, and Director of Instruction for the St. Andrews Links Trust.

Sheridan, a Class A PGA of America Golf Professional, is also an advanced member of the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland and a rules official for the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland.
