BERKELEY, Calif. – The No. 2 Cardinal closed out a strong weekend at the MPSF Invitational with a 15-10 win over No. 6 California, finishing third in the tournament. Stanford moves to 9-1 on the season with the win.
Stanford led from start to finish, taking a 10-5 lead into halftime. The Card shut out California in the third quarter, extending the lead and holding on for the win. Riley Pittman led the way for the Cardinal attack, scoring four times and assisting twice.
Pittman was the only Stanford player with multiple goals, as 12 members of the Card scored in a full-team barrage.
The Cardinal heads to southern California next weekend for a pair of top-10 games against No. 8 UC Irvine and No. 4 Pepperdine. Saturday’s game in Irvine and Sunday’s game at Pepperdine both start at noon PT.
