STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford men’s swimming and diving team is ranked No. 7 in the CSCAA preseason coaches’ poll.
The Cardinal is among three Atlantic Coast Conference programs among the top seven, which is the most of any conference. Eight ACC teams are among the Top 20 – also the most.
Stanford returns eight of 10 All-Americans from its 2024 team that placed eighth at the NCAA Championships, including all five All-Americans in individual events.
The Cardinal is led by diver Jack Ryan, who placed third in the 3-meter and fourth at 1-meter at NCAA’s. Andrei Minakov, Stanford’s record-holder in four individual events and three relays, was the 2022 NCAA champion in the 100-yard butterfly.
Ron Polonsky is coming off the Olympics, breaking his own Israeli record in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.00). In Paris, he placed 12th in the 200 individual medley, 16th in the 100 breast, and 10th in the 4x100 mixed relay.
Jonathan Tan of Singapore also is coming off the Olympics, placing 32nd in the 50 freestyle, and 38th in the 100 free.
Stanford opens its season Oct. 18 at Avery Aquatic Center against preseason No. 1 Cal in the non-scoring Triple Distance Meet.
