SOUTH BEND, Ind. – No. 3 Stanford opened ACC play with a 25-17, 23-25, 25-18 25-20 win over Notre Dame, Friday, in Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.
Stanford (9-1, 1-0 ACC) hit .291 as a team, while holding Notre Dame (7-3, 0-1 ACC) to a .098 clip. The Cardinal registered 13.0 blocks and 10 aces, including a career-high five by freshman Taylor Yu.
Outside hitter Elia Rubin led Stanford offensively with a match-high 17 kills on .325 hitting to go with seven digs, an ace and a season-best five blocks. Middle blocker Sami Francis added 10 kills on a .450 attack percentage and a match-high nine blocks.
Setter Kami Miner dished out 41 assists and collected 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the year. The senior also tallied three blocks and a pair of aces. Libero Elena Oglivie anchored the defense with 11 digs and had five assists and two aces.
Outside hitter Ipar Kurt totaled nine kills, two digs and two blocks, while middle blocker Lizzy Andrew hit .545 with seven kills, four blocks and a dig. Opposite Jordyn Harvey finished with five kills, while defensive specialists Taylor Beaven and Anna Pringle combined for 13 digs.
Notre Dame was led by Sydney Palazzolo’s 10 kills, 10 digs and two aces. Libero Hattie Monson posted a match-high 14 digs. Stanford is now 8-1 all-time against the Fighting Irish.
The Cardinal closes out the weekend on Sunday at No. 5 Louisville. First serve is scheduled for Noon PT on ESPN.
