- The first tournament of the 2024-25 season begins on Monday morning for top-ranked Stanford women’s golf. The Cardinal takes part in The Molly Invitational, hosted by the California Golden Bears.
- Rounds one and two take place on Monday, Sept. 30 with the final round set for Tuesday, Oct. 1.
- The season began in a big way for Stanford as the Cardinal defeated the Golden Bears 4-3 in the annual Big Match. It marks the second win for Stanford in the event, and the first since 2022.
- The Stanford pairing of Leigh Chien and Logan Kim were the clinchers on the 17th hole. Additional match play wins came from Kelly Xu & TK Chantananuwat, Andrea Revuelta & Nathan Wang, and Megha Ganne & Ethan Gao.
- The Cardinal last competed at The Molly to begin the 2021 season. Stanford won and Rose Zhang claimed her first win in her first collegiate event. Current Card Caroline Sturdza finished in a tie for second.
- All eyes are on the Cardinal as it begins its national championship title defense. Stanford claimed its third-ever national championship in 2024, beating UCLA 3-2 in the title match. Kelly Xu, Megha Ganne, and Rachel Heck were the three individual match winners who clinched team points for the Card.
- While this year’s Stanford team looks as different as any in recent years, it is arguably just as talented. Stanford lost Sadie Englemann and Rachel Heck following four years, but added four freshmen who helped the Cardinal earn the best recruiting class in the country, per Golf Channel.
- Five of the eight on this year’s Cardinal roster were named preseason All-Americans: Paula Martin Sampedro (First Team), Kelly Xu + Meja Ortengren + Andrea Revuelta (Second Team), Megha Ganne (Honorable Mention).
- Half of Stanford’s roster was selected to the ANNIKA Award Fall Watch List: Martin Sampedro, Ortengren, Revuelta, and Xu.
