Card Reveals 2024-25 Schedule

Stanford to host six duals on The Farm

STANFORD, Calif. - Chris Ayres, The Matt Gentry Head Wrestling Coach, has announced Stanford's 2024-25 schedule, including six home duals on The Farm.

“Our scheduling philosophy is very simple- wrestle the best opponents possible and bring teams to Stanford that will help build the wrestling community around the program,” said Ayres, who is in his second season at the helm of the program. “This schedule achieves that. We compete against six top-15 teams and wrestle in the toughest in-season tournament of the year (CKLV), so by the time we hit the NCAA Championships this team will know how to compete against the best.

“Additionally, we have a great home match slate, especially in the second half of the season, so there will be plenty of reasons for wrestling fans to get to Stanford for our duals. It’s a great schedule and I can’t wait for the season to start.”

The Cardinal will wrestle a total of 15 duals and compete in some of the nation's most competitive collegiate tournaments. Stanford opens the season on Nov. 1 at home with a tri-meet including Utah Valley and CSU Bakersfield.

The Cardinal will host an intrasquad meet on Saturday, Oct. 26 inside Fan Fest prior to Stanford football's homecoming game against Wake Forest.

Stanford’s first road trip takes it to perennial powers Iowa State (Nov. 8) and Iowa (Nov. 9) before returning to the west coast for an outdoor dual at Cal Poly on Nov. 16.

Taking a break from its dual schedule, Stanford will make appearances at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Dec. 6-7) and return to the Midlands Championships (Dec. 29-30) for the first time since 2012.

Highlighting its home schedule are duals against Arizona State (Jan. 19), Virginia (Jan. 26), Virginia Tech (Feb. 7) and North Carolina (Feb. 21).

Duke will host the 2025 ACC Championships on Sunday, March 9. The NCAA Championships will be held March 20-22 in Philadelphia.

Stanford returns five NCAA qualifiers, including All-Americans Jaden Abas (2021), Daniel Cardenas (2024) and Hunter Garvin (2024), to its roster in 2024-25.

The Cardinal enters the season ranked No. 15 in InterMat’s dual rankings and tied for No. 23 in the tournament rankings. In total, seven Cardinal are ranked to start the season – No. 11 Nico Provo (125), No. 25 Tyler Knox (133), No. 30 Jason Miranda (141), No. 13 Jaden Abas (149), No. 3 Hunter Garvin (165), No. 18 Lorenzo Norman (174), No. 30 Tye Monteiro (184) and No. 18 Nick Stemmet (197).
