STANFORD, Calif. – Four Cardinal reached double-digit kills as No. 5 Stanford defeated NC State, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 25-8, in its ACC home opener, Friday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (10-2, 2-1 ACC) hit .287 as a team, while holding NC State (7-4, 2-1 ACC) to a .209 clip. The Cardinal finished with eight aces, 69 digs and 10 blocks in its first win over the Wolfpack.
Setter Kami Miner controlled the Cardinal offense, dishing out 47 assists to go with 12 digs and three blocks. The senior also tallied a season-high three aces as Stanford ended the match on a 13-1 run with Miner at the line.
Outside hitter Ipar Kurt led Stanford with 15 kills, while middle blocker Sami Francis matched her season-high with 14 kills on 29 errorless swings to hit .483. The senior also tied for a match-best five blocks and tied her career-high with two aces.
Opposite Jordyn Harvey turned in 14 kills on .429 hitting, two digs and two aces. Outside hitter Elia Rubin registered her fourth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 13 digs to go with four blocks.
Libero Elena Oglivie collected a match-high 22 digs and seven assists. Freshman middle blocker Lizzy Andrew posted six kills, two digs and five blocks.
Defensive specialists Anna Pringle and Malyssa Cawa each recorded six digs, while serving specialist Taylor Yu had an ace and a dig.
NC State was led by Amanda Rice’s 13 kills and 11 digs, while Ava Brizard added 12 kills and five digs. Libero Skye Stokes finished with 17 digs and three assists.
Stanford is 88-12 at Maples Pavilion under Montag Family Director of Women’s Volleyball Kevin Hambly, who is in his eighth season on The Farm.
The Cardinal wraps up the weekend on Sunday, playing host to Wake Forest at 1 p.m. on ACCNX.
