SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M. - Stanford closed out the inaugural NB3 Matchplay event at Twin Warriors, dropping its third and final match of the event to Texas on Tuesday. 4.5-0.5
Hosted by Cardinal alum Notah Begay III, the Stanford men would finish fourth with three match points.
Nathan Wang was the lone Cardinal to get on the scoreboard on Tuesday, tying Jack Gilbert. Wang climbed back from a 2-down deficit from the front nine to secure a half-point for Stanford.
TK Chantananuwat had a back-and-forth battle with the Longhorns' Tommy Morrison. Chantananuwat notched seven birdies on the round and led 2-up at one point, but Morrison would storm back and reclaim the lead on the 17th green to secure the win.
Jay Leng jumped out to an early 1-up lead against Christan Maas, but a stretch of four consecutive birdies for Maas put the match out of reach for the Cardinal freshman.
Ethan Gao fell 2&1 to Texas' Daniel Bennett while Logan Kim dropped a 4&3 match to Luke Potter.
