STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men’s basketball continued its winning start to the season, downing Northern Arizona, 90-64, on Tuesday at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal improves to 3-0, marking the first 3-0 start since the 2019-20 campaign.
Maxime Raynaud led the Cardinal with 22 points and 11 rebounds, giving the senior from Paris his third consecutive double-double to open the campaign. The 7-footer, who opened the night as the ACC’s leading rebounder, led five in double figures, going 9-for-13 from the floor. Oziyah Sellers added 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting while Ryan Agarwal pitched in a career-high 15. Jaylen Blakes and Benny Gealer added 13 and 10 points apiece, respectively.
Stanford was dominant from the floor, shooting 56.1 percent from the field, 52.2 percent from beyond the arc and 87.5 percent from the free throw line. The Cardinal eclipsed the 80-point threshold for the third straight game to start the season.
Northern Arizona (2-1) got off to a quick start and 8-0 lead, but the Cardinal responded to tie the game less than five minutes later, 13-13. Stanford used a 16-0 run to take control in the first half, and extended the run to 34-8 over a period of more than 12 minutes in the first half. Raynaud, Sellers and Gealer were all in double figures at the break, with Stanford leading by 22, 48-26.
The Cardinal continued its onslaught in the second half, with Blakes leading the scoring with 11 points over the 20 minutes and Agarwal posting a perfect 3-for-3 mark from 3-point range.
