The Opening Kickoff
- The 127th Big Game takes place on Saturday afternoon at California Memorial Stadium as Stanford takes on California. The game is televised on ACC Network and kicks off at 12:30 pm PT.
- Stanford finished up the home portion of its schedule last Saturday with a thrilling 38-35 comeback win against No. 22 Louisville. Stanford trailed by 14 points in the fourth quarter but scored 17 points in the final 6:40.
- Emmet Kenney kicked a career-long 52-yard field goal as time expired for the win. Both of Stanford's ACC wins have come on Kenney field goals to end the game.
- Emmett Mosley V had a breakout game against No. 22 Louisville, arguably the best game by a true freshman in program history. He caught 13 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-tying score with 45 seconds remaining. His 13 catches and three receiving touchdowns are Stanford single-game records by a true freshman, while his 168 yards are the third-most.
- With the victory over No. 22 Louisville, Stanford picked up its first win over an AP-ranked team since beating No. 3 Oregon in 2021. It snapped a 16-game losing streak against ranked teams.
- A trio of Stanford players earned weekly awards from the ACC following the win. Emmett Mosley V was named the ACC Receiver of the Week and Rookie of the Week, Emmet Kenney was named the ACC Specialist of the Week, and Ashton Daniels was named the ACC Quarterback of the Week.
- 6 different Cardinal have made their first collegiate starts in 2024. That is tied for the eighth most in FBS and leads the ACC. 19 players have also made their collegiate debuts this year, totaling 42 collegiate debuts in the first two years under Troy Taylor.
- Stanford has lost four of the last five Big Games, but won nine straight from 2010-2018. The most recent Big Game win at California by Stanford came in 2020. The Big Game is the sixth-most played rivalry game in college football and the most between any two teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
- A theme of Stanford in wins under Coach Taylor has been the Card's ability to stop the run. Stanford is allowing an average of just 57.3 rushing yards per game to opponents in wins since 2023 season.
