STANFORD, Calif. – Maxime Raynaud scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Stanford men’s basketball defeated UC Davis, 79-65, on Sunday at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal improves to 4-0 on the season with the result.
Raynaud became the program’s 51st member of the 1,000-point club in the win, while matching a season-best with 14 rebounds. The Paris native made 13 field goals and tied a career-best with five 3-pointers in the win. The double-double was his fourth in as many games this season - no other player in the ACC has more than two this year.
Jaylen Blakes finished one point shy of his career high, scoring 17 on 5-for-8 shooting and six made free throws, while Ryan Agarwal set a new career best with 11 rebounds. Stanford outrebounded the Aggies (2-2) by 15, 45-30.
The Cardinal raced out to an 18-point lead at the half, 41-23, led by 17 first half points from Raynaud and 12 from Blakes. Raynaud scored 10 of the team’s first 15 points, and the Cardinal used a 12-0 run that spanned both halves to earn its largest lead of the night, a 21-point cushion.
The Aggies fought back in the second half, cutting the deficit to just five points with 9:08 to play. Undeterred, the Cardinal responded with an 8-2 run to go back up by double digits, and the lead blossomed to 17 in the closing minutes.
Stanford is 4-0 for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign, when it started with seven consecutive victories.
The Cardinal wraps up its five-game homestand on Wednesday, November 20 against Norfolk State. The contest tips off at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
