DALLAS – The Stanford men’s swimming team competes at the SMU Invitational from Wednesday through Saturday at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center.
The swimming competition is comprised of Stanford, SMU, Drury, and Hawai’i, beginning Wednesday at 4 p.m. PT. Stanford is not participating in diving.
Stanford is ranked No. 8 in the CSCAA Top 25 coaches’ poll. SMU, like Stanford, a new addition to the Atlantic Coast Conference, is unranked, but is also receiving votes. Drury, of Springfield, Missouri, was second in the NCAA Division II championships last season. And Hawai’i was the coaching stop of Stanford’s Goldman Family Director of Men’s Swimming Dan Schemmel and associate head coach Mike Stephens.
This is the third meet for the Cardinal swimmers. They opened with the non-scoring Triple Distance Meet against Cal on October 18, and continued with a double dual against Cal and Arizona State in Tempe, Arizona, on Nov. 7-9.
Stanford lost to No. 1 Cal, 181-172, and to No. 6 Arizona State, 223-130. Stanford earned swimming victories in the 200 individual medley with Ron Polonsky in 1:43.76, and the 1,000 free with Liam Custer in 8:49.08.
