STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford sophomore Henry McFadden was named Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
McFadden won four events at the SMU Invitational last week to help No. 8 Stanford to victory in the four-team competition.
The sophomore out of Haddonfield, New Jersey, won the 500-yard freestyle, 200 free, and 200 butterfly. He also anchored Stanford’s 400 free relay team to a victory and an NCAA A cut time of 2:47.89. All three of his individual victories were NCAA B cut times.
In the 500 free, McFadden achieved a personal best of 4:14.35. The time places him No. 10 in NCAA Division I and No. 3 in the ACC. McFadden jumped to No. 11 on Stanford’s all-time list.
In his main event, the 200 free, McFadden clocked a season-best 1:32.59. That places him No. 4 in Division I and No. 1 in the ACC.
In the 200 fly, McFadden swam 1:43.14. He is ranked No. 27 in Division I and No. 18 in the ACC.
The 400 relay time places Stanford No. 4 in Division I and No. 2 in the ACC.
McFadden is the third Stanford swimmer or diver to earn ACC weekly honors this year. Ron Polonsky was Swimmer of the Week on October 22 and Jack Ryan was Diver of the Week on November 19.
