STANFORD, Calif. – Following the conclusion of their first regular season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, four Stanford women’s soccer players earned spots on All-ACC teams.
The list is highlighted by second-team selections in junior Jasmine Aikey and sophomore Mia Bhuta. Junior Elise Evans landed on the third team, while freshman Eleanor Klinger earned a spot on the All-ACC Freshman Team.
The All-ACC teams are voted on by the league’s 17 head coaches.
Bhuta has started all 18 matches for the Cardinal in the midfield, registering 1,391 minutes while scoring three goals for six points. The native of Pittsburgh, Pa.’s lone goal in ACC play came against her hometown team of Pitt on September 29 to help secure a 1-1 draw against the Panthers. Bhuta was an All-Pac-12 third team selection a year ago while landing on the All-Pac-12 freshman team. A mainstay in Stanford’s lineup through her first two seasons, Bhuta has started 42 of a possible 43 matches for the Cardinal.
Aikey started the first 17 matches for the Cardinal this year, with the bulk of her minutes coming at center back as part of Stanford’s stellar backline. The native of Palo Alto, Calif. logged 1,251 minutes while scoring one goal and adding three assists for five points. Aikey was a preseason All-ACC selection and earned a spot on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. The 2023 Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year and United Soccer Coaches All-American, Aikey was a semifinalist for the 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy and a finalist for the Honda Award.
One of the top defenders in the nation, Evans has started 11 matches while logging 960 minutes so far this season. A preseason All-ACC selection, she earned a spot on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List to start the season, and was most recently tabbed the No. 19 player on TopDrawerSoccer’s Midseason Top 100 players list. The native of Redwood City, Calif. started the first three matches of the year before missing the next seven while helping guide the United States to a bronze medal at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia. Evans was named to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-Region first team and was an All-America third team selection a year ago.
With Evans and Aikey serving as Stanford’s primary center backs, the Cardinal has posted 10 shutouts and a 0.83 goals against average while limiting opponents to just 8.40 shots per match.
Klinger has made an immediate impact in her first year on The Farm, appearing in all 18 matches while starting eight. The native of Cleveland, Ohio has amassed a goal and three assists to total five points while playing at midfield and forward this season. Klinger earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Best XI Freshman Team and was most recently tabbed the No. 37 player on TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Top 100 Freshmen list. All three of Klinger’s assists have come in ACC play, while her game-winning goal was the difference in a 2-1 victory over USC on September 8.
The Cardinal is awaiting the announcement of the 64-team NCAA Tournament field, which will be released on Monday, November 11. The selection show is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on NCAA.com.
