IOWA CITY, Iowa - Three freshmen tallied wins, but No. 20 Stanford fell at No. 2 Iowa, 32-9, on Saturday in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Picking up wins for Stanford (3-1) were Tyler Knox (133), Aden Valencia (141) and Lorenzo Norman (174).
Knox took out No. 7 Drake Ayala, the 2024 NCAA runner-up at 125 pounds, with a 15-10 decision at 133 pounds. The Groveland, Massachuesetts native improves to 4-0 on the season.
Valencia, a true freshman from Morgan Hill, tied up the team score with an 11-6 decision over No. 31 Ryder Block at 141 pounds. He is 2-0 on the year.
Norman also notched a top-10 victory with a 4-1 decision over No. 6 Nelson Brands, a 2023 NCAA All-American, at 174 pounds. He moves to 4-0 on the season.
Up next, Stanford returns to the West Coast, traveling to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly in an outdoor dual on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11:30 a.m.
