STANFORD, Calif. – Elena Bosgana had her first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Jzaniya Harriel made a game-sealing steal to lead Stanford to a 62-57 victory over UTSA on Monday afternoon.

Stanford (8-3) led by three with 13 seconds remaining after Bosgana split a pair of free throws. UTSA (7-2) called its final timeout to advance and inbounded the ball in front of its own bench when Jzaniya Harriel jumped the exchange between Idara Udo and Jordyn Jenkins, stole the ball and dropped in a fastbreak layup as time expired.

After Bosgana again split a pair of free throws midway through the fourth quarter, Stanford had its largest lead, 57-42. But the Cardinal had to withstand a 15-2 UTSA run over the next 5:22 to set up the tense final moments. Stanford missed four shots, had three turnovers and went four minutes without scoring until the drought ended with a Nunu Agara layup at 1:48.

The weekday noon tip was played in front of a crowd of 4,600, the majority from local elementary schools for Stanford’s Field Trip Day.

On the other side of the floor, Harriel scored 12 points and was 3-of-4 on 3-pointers. She’s now an even 50 percent (22-of-44) from deep this season. Brooke Demetre added 11 points on three 3-pointers and three blocks before fouling out late and Chloe Clardy matched a career high with four steals.

Up one after one, Stanford raced out to its first double-digit lead with a 9-0 spurt to start the second quarter and force a UTSA timeout. The nation’s top 3-point shooting team entering Monday, the run came exclusively via the long ball from Demetre, Tess Heal and Harriel.

The Roadrunners grabbed their only lead, 28-26, on a 3-point play from Jenkins early in the third quarter, but Demetre answered with a triple on the next possession to put Stanford back up one.

The Cardinal closes out the nonconference portion of its schedule when it plays No. 11 Ohio State in the Invisalign Bay Area Women’s Classic at Chase Center in San Francisco on Friday, Dec. 20 at 5:30 p.m. on FS1.
