AUSTIN, Texas - No. 15 Stanford closed out its road trip with a 4-1 defeat at No. 4 Texas on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 after dropping the doubles point, Stanford (2-3) fell behind 3-0 after Texas secured victories at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots.
Kyle Kang responded with a 7-5, 6-4 triumph on court four, accounting for the Cardinal's only point.
Despite falling behind 3-1, Stanford had forced a third set in each of the remaining three matches, including Nishesh Basavareddy pushing the nation's top-ranked player to a decider at the No. 1 spot.
However, the Longhorns made it official with the clincher on court five.
Stanford next hosts Pepperdine on Friday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
