STANFORD, Calif. – Led by a season-best team score, Stanford women's gymnastics secured its first win of the 2024 season Monday topping Washington 196.875-196.500 inside Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal's win was guided by strong performances from its underclassmen, including debuts from freshmen Victoria Cluck and Sienna Robinson on vault and beam, respectively. Sophomore Claire Dean earned her career-best all-around total of 39.350, led by a career-high total on vault and scores of 9.850 on beam and floor to finish second in the all-around competition. Fellow sophomore Porsche Trinidad earned a career-high 9.875 on beam in just her second-ever appearance for the Cardinal, leading all Stanford gymnasts on the event.

Junior Anapaula Gutierrez and senior Amanda Zeng brought home Stanford's event wins of the night, both with career-high efforts. Gutierrez earned the bars title with a 9.925 and Zeng earned her floor award with a 9.900.

Stanford started the night on vault, earning a 48.975 team score led by Dean's 9.825 in the leadoff spot. Amanda Zeng matched her career-best score on vault for the third time this season, earning a 9.800. Juniors Brenna Neault and Gutierrez both added scores of 9.800 and freshman Victoria Cluck made her Stanford debut with a 9.750.

It was then onto bars where the Cardinal marked its third consecutive team score of 49.250-or-better on the event. Monday's 49.350 performance, the program's best event total of the evening, was led by Gutierrez's career-best performance and a 9.900 from fifth-year Chloe Widner, marking her 20th routine earning a 9.900-or-better dating back to Feb. 4, 2023. Dean led off with a season-best 9.850 and senior Ira Alexeeva matched that effort in the fourth spot. Neault rounded out the scoring efforts with a 9.825 in the anchor position.

Stanford then went to beam, totaling a 49.225 team score. Trinidad led the way with her 9.875, Dean kicked off the rotation with a 9.850, Alexeeva earned the same score and freshman Sienna Robinson recorded a 9.825 in her collegiate debut. Neault added a 9.825 to complete the Cardinal's scoring efforts.

The Cardinal ended its night on floor, totaling its season-best floor team score of 49.325 even with sending only five gymnasts to compete. Zeng's floor title-winning performance of 9.900 paced the lineup, while scores of 9.875 were added by Neault (a season-best effort) and sophomore Taralyn Nguyen. Landry added a career-best 9.850 in the second spot of the lineup and Dean led the rotation off with a 9.825.

Stanford has a short turnaround time before its next competition, welcoming No. 20 Arizona State to Maples Friday, Feb. 9 for the program's annual Pink Meet at 6:30 p.m. The event will be streamed on Stanford Live Stream.
