STANFORD, Calif. – Juliette Whittaker is on the preseason watch list for The Bowerman, collegiate track and field’s most prestigious individual honor.
Whittaker, a junior science, technology, and society major from Laurel, Maryland, is a three-time NCAA champion and an Olympic finalist. Whittaker represented the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics and placed seventh. She was the first active Stanford athlete to make an Olympic track final in 92 years.
In 2024, Whittaker won NCAA 800-meter titles both indoors and outdoors, becoming the first woman to do since 2017. She had a previous NCAA title in the indoor distance medley relay in 2023.
Among all collegians indoors and outdoors and on all dates, her personal record of 1:57.76 from the Olympic semifinals placed her No. 3 in collegiate history and was the No. 6 collegiate performance all-time. She is a seven-time All-American.
Each watch list consists of 10 individuals and will be updated on February 5. This is Whittaker’s third time on the list. Teammate Roisin Willis, a current junior who was the 2023 NCAA indoor 800 champ, was on the preseason watch list last year, as was men’s distance runner Ky Robinson, now graduated.
Stanford has not had a Bowerman winner, but hurdler Kori Carter was a women’s finalist in 2013.
