STANFORD, Calif. – No. 3 Stanford cruised past Memphis 4-0 on Friday afternoon in the opening round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend at the West Campus Courts.
The Cardinal (2-0) will next face Ole Miss on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Illinois (Feb. 9-12) on the line. The Rebels defeated Utah 4-3 earlier Friday morning.
Stanford rolled through doubles, with its top two pairs securing 6-1 victories for the early lead.
It was much the same in singles. No. 12 Connie Ma earned a quick 6-2, 6-0 victory on court 2 and Caroline Driscoll, making her Stanford debut, was a 6-1, 6-0 winner on court 5. No. 6 Valerie Glozman clinched her first match for the Cardinal with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court 1.
Stanford, which has won 115 of its last 122 matches on The Farm, is seeking its fourth straight ITA Indoors appearance and chasing its first tournament title at the event since 2011.
