Friday Night Matchup with No. 23 North Carolina

Cardinal and Tarheels meet in head-to-head competition for the first time since 2013

QUICK STICKS

  • No. 15 Stanford welcomes No. 23 North Carolina to Maples Pavilion Jan. 31 for a Friday night dual meet, its second home dual meet of its inaugural season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
  • The matchup with the Tarheels is slated for a 7 p.m. PT start and will be streamed on ACC Network Extra with Jenna Beccera and Casey Magnuson on the call. Live scoring can be found on Virtius.
  • Led by junior Anna Roberts’ second consecutive bars and all-around titles and sophomore Temple Landry’s first-ever collegiate event title, No. 15 Stanford topped then- No. 25 Pitt 196.175-194.550 in Pittsburgh.  The Cardinal’s score of 196.175 against the Panthers was its second-best team total of the year and the best team total put up by a visiting team (in regular-season competition) in Fitzgerald Field House since Feb. 25, 2024.
  • Landry's 9.900 on beam was a significant one, as it was the only score of 9.900-or-better posted in the meet and brought her the first event title of her collegiate career. The Maple Grove, Minn. native averages a 9.850 on beam this season, the fifth-best average by an ACC gymnast in the 2025 season.
  • Stanford boasts the conference's best athlete on two events-- Anna Roberts on vault (9.858) and Brenna Neault on beam (9.892).
  • The Cardinal and Tarheels meet for the first time since the 2013 season, where both schools took on Oklahoma in the Sooner State for a tri meet in early March. The Sooners took home the victory with a score of 197.525, while the Cardinal earned a team total of 196.000 and the Tarheels scored a total of 195.300.
  • Through three outings, Stanford gymnasts have secured 11 of 15 possible (includes all-around) individual event titles (includes ties).
  • The Cardinal's floor squad continues to impress each week, thanks to incredible choreography and musical selections from Fontaine and Langenfeld Women’s Gymnastics First Assistant Coach Hallie Mossett. Stanford marks its third consecutive week as one of the nation's top-10 floor rotations.
    • Week 2 (Jan. 13)-  7th; Average: 49.300
    • Week 3 (Jan. 20)- 4th ; Average: 49.338
