PDF box score

TUCSON, Ariz. – Stanford is 12-1 to start season, after picking up a ninth run-rule win of the season tonight against Colorado State. The Cardinal topped the Rams 10-2 behind three-hit performances from Jade Berry and Emily Jones, scoring 10 or more runs for the sixth time in 13 games this season.

Colorado State struck first, scoring twice in the top of the second thanks to three straight singles.

Stanford answered right back with five runs on four hits in the bottom half of the inning. The flurry started with Allie Clements and Joie Economides leading off the inning with a hit by pitch and walk, respectively. After a single from Jade Berry loaded the bases, Caelan Koch cleared them with a double to deep left field.

Just two pitches later, Taryn Kern tripled to bring Koch in. Emily Jones brought Kern in on an RBI single, and the Cardinal exited the second with three-run lead at 5-2.

Berry added another run to the tally in the bottom of the third, singling to drive in Mylia Perez – pinch-running for Economides.

The Cardinal piled on with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to walk off in run-rule fashion. Berry hit a two-run home run off the scoreboard in right field to make it 10-2, the first of three-straight Stanford hits. Sydney Boulaphinh singled, then came around to score on Koch’s second double of the game and make it 9-2.

Dani Hayes entered to pinch run for Koch at second, and moved to third after Kern walked and Jones singled for the third time in the game.

Hayes raced home on a wild pitch, giving the Cardinal a 10-2 win.

Zoe Prystajko picked up the win to move to 5-0 on the season. After allowing two runs to score in the second, the freshman responded with scoreless third and fourth innings. After the second run scored, Prystajko allowed just two hits in 2.2 innings.

Kylie Chung entered in the fifth inning with a runner on and no outs, and struck two in a hitless relief appearance.

Stanford wraps up the Tucson trip tomorrow, ending on a matinee rematch with No. 13 Arizona. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. PT, and the game can be streamed on ESPN+.
