Nine National Team Nods

The newest reshuffle of the U.S. National Team is full of Cardinal following conclusion of Winter Cup on Sunday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Cardinal alum Riley Loos broke through for his first Winter Cup all-around title, highlighting a total of nine past, present, and future Cardinal named to the U.S. Senior National Team

Loos led the all-around race from start to finish in Louisville, also earning gold medals on floor exercise (27.700) and still rings (27.350) en route to being crowned Winter Cup champion.

Joining Loos as the newest members of the National Team were Taylor Burkhart and Colt Walker. Burkhart finished fourth in the all-around race, showcasing strong efforts on parallel bars (27.500), still rings (26.550), and vault (28.150). Walker came home with the parallel bars event title, while also finishing seventh on pommel horse.

Incoming Cardinal freshman Junnosuke Iwai was also named to the National Team after a fifth-place finish in the all-around, while current Stanford freshmen Kai Uemura and Kiran Mandava were named to the U.S. Development Team for the second consecutive cycle.

Additionally, Brandon Nguyen had a strong showing on parallel bars, finishing second on the event with a 27.750.

Ultimately, Stanford closed out the weekend with nine of the 21 U.S. National Team spots, as Sunday's group of selections joins Asher Hong, Brody Malone, and Khoi Young, who each retained their National Team spots after Team USA's bronze medal performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics last summer.

USA Gymnastics also announced the team's first international assignments, headlined by four Cardinal (Iwai, Loos, Uemura, Walker) set to head to the DTB Men's Team Challenge later this year. Iwai and Loos are also slated to compete at the Osijek World Cup, while Hong will compete in the Antalya World Cup and Mandava will participate in the DTB Mixed Challenge.

Stanford returns to collegiate competition on March 1, as they head to State College to take on No. 7 Penn State.
