STANFORD, Calif. — No. 9 Stanford men’s tennis continued its ACC homestand on Thursday night with a 4-1 win over No. 55 Notre Dame. The win is Stanford’s third in a row in ACC play, improving to 11-4 (3-2) on the season.
Notre Dame took the doubles point convincingly over the Cardinal. No. 34 Samir Banerjee and Alex Razeghi fell 6-2 and shortly after, Max Basing and Nico Godsick dropped court one 6-3 to hand the Fighting Irish the first point of the night.
That would be the only point Notre Dame would score as Stanford swept all four singles points. Godsick rebounded from his doubles loss to beat Kyran Magimay 6-2, 6-1 and then Basing put Stanford in front by winning 6-4, 6-1.
The final points of the night nearly came simultaneously, with Razeghi and Kyle Kang finishing within a minute of each other. It was Razeghi finishing on court five first, ending 6-2, 6-4 for the win. It was the ninth dual win of the season for Razeghi, the most for the Cardinal this season. Kang secured the victory for Stanford with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court three.
One final match remains on the homestand, with Stanford welcoming in Louisville on Saturday night at 5:30 pm PT.
