STANFORD, Calif. - No. 5 Stanford enjoyed a flawless Friday afternoon on The Farm, defeating both Texas A&M Corpus-Christi and Utah in 5-0 fashion for the Cardinal's eighth and ninth sweeps this season.
Stanford opened up Friday's action against the Islanders, as Avery Jackson and Brooke Rockwall earned 21-13, 21-11 wins. Chloe Hoffman and Clara Stowell tallied a three-set comeback, winning 15-21, 21-18, 17-15, followed by 21-19, 21-15 wins from Ruby Sorra and Taylor Wilson to clinch the dual. Daria Gusarova and Emmy Sharp put the Cardinal up 4-0 with a 21-18, 21-16 triumph, while Kelly Belardi and Charlotta Bell sealed the sweep with a 21-9, 21-18 victory on court five.
The Cardinal kept it rolling with a dominant showing against Utah, with Jackson and Rockwell again winning 21-15, 21-17. Stanford's second point came courtesy of a 21-12, 21-18 victory from the Hoffman/Stowell pairing, while Sorra/Wilson defeated the Utes' top pair 21-17, 21-11 for the match clincher. Belardi and Bell topped Utah's fourth pairing 21-15 and 21-12 before Gusarova and Sharp capped off the action with a 21-18, 21-16 victory.
The Cardinal returns to action for two more duals tomorrow with a rematch against Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 10 a.m. PT, followed by a contest versus Saint Mary's at 2 p.m. PT. Both matches can be streamed on B1G+ while live results can be found on StanfordStats.com.
