STANFORD, Calif. – Theo Snoey registered a match-high 22 kills, but No. 8 Stanford fell to No. 14 UC San Diego, 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 11-15, Saturday, in Burnham Pavilion.
UC San Diego (12-4) hit .339 for the match and out blocked Stanford (7-6) 12.0 to 7.0. The Cardinal hit .254 leading 60-57 in kills, held a 44-33 advantage in digs and a 5-4 edge in aces.
Snoey hit .357 and had five digs, two blocks and an assist in his first match played since Feb. 15.

A back-and-forth battle all night, there were 56 tie scores and 19 lead changes in the match. The fifth set was the only frame without a lead change as the Triton his .647 with 11 kills on 17 errorless swings.
Setter Theoren Brouillette recorded his first collegiate double-double with 52 assists and a career and match-high 16 digs. The junior also tallied three aces, two blocks and a kill.

Opposite Moses Wagner recorded 13 kills, seven digs, two blocks and an ace, while outside hitter Nate Clinton finished with 12 kills, eight digs, two blocks and an ace. Freshman middle blocker Kaumana Carreira chipped in with seven kills on .400 hitting and two blocks.

Freshman middle blocker Reed Wainwright posted five kills, three blocks, two digs and two assists. Freshman libero Evan Porter collected six digs and two assists.
UC San Diego was led by opposite Anthony Cherfan’s 18 kills on .326 hitting, five blocks three digs and two aces. Outside hitter Josh Schellinger added 15 kills, three digs and two blocks.
