BLACKSBURG, Va. – The No. 13 Cardinal dropped the first of a three-game series at No. 16 Virginia Tech today, falling 4-3 to move to 24-4 and 8-2 in ACC play.
Taryn Kern opened the scoring in the third inning, blasting her ninth home run of the season to center to go ahead 1-0. Krya Chan doubled the lead later in the inning, singling home River Mahler to make it 2-0.
The Hokies took the lead in the fourth on a three-run homer, snapping Zoe Prystajko’s scoreless inning streak at 8.2 IP. Virginia Tech added another one in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 4-2.
Jade Berry singled in a run in the top of the seventh, but the Card was unable to bring the tying run home.
The Cardinal is back against Virginia Tech tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PT. The game can be seen on ACC Network.

- Stanford moved to 24-4 (8-2) on the season.
- Senior Camryn Carmouche made her first start of the season, going 0-for-3 as the designated player.
