Stanford Beats Yellow Jackets on Senior Day

Elena Bosgana leads the Cardinal with 19 points and six rebounds in 87-82 win

STANFORD, Calif. – Elena Bosgana led Stanford with 19 points and six rebounds on Senior Day and the Cardinal closed out its regular season with an 87-82 win over visiting Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon.

Stanford (16-13, 8-10) is the No. 11 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament and will play No. 14 seed Clemson in the first round on Wednesday, March 5 at 3:30 p.m. PT/6:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network.

Bosgana was just one piece of an amazing Cardinal offense against the Yellow Jackets. Stanford made 35 of its 57 attempts from the floor, a 61.4 percent clip that is an ACC best in conference games this season. Mary Ashley Stevenson had her best game in a Cardinal uniform, scoring 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, Courtney Ogden added 16, Chloe Clardy scored 12 and Brooke Demetre put in 10.

Bosgana, Demetre and Jzaniya Harriel were honored in a postgame ceremony recognizing Stanford’s seniors.

Stanford grew a lead as large as 15 midway through the third quarter thanks to a 14-3 run to open the second half. Stevenson had seven points during the spurt, including an and-1 to get it going and Georgia Tech was forced to call timeout down 60-45.

The Yellow Jackets didn’t go away, opening the fourth quarter on an 11-0 run to take a 76-74 lead with 6:21 to go.

Stanford was down a point when Kara Dunn made a jumper with 5:38 remaining but ended the game on a 10-4 run. Georgia Tech only made two of its final nine shots over the second half of the fourth quarter.

The Cardinal closed out its regular season with a 14-3 home record, including a 14-0 mark against unranked opponents.
