GREENSBORO, N.C. – Courtney Ogden led Stanford with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting, but Clemson beat the Cardinal in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday night, 63-46.
Stanford was unable to get much going. Outside of Ogden, the rest of the Cardinal combined to shoot just 25.0 percent. As a team, Stanford was 17-of-54 from the floor (.315), its second-worst percentage of the season.
The Cardinal scored the game’s first six points and Clemson didn’t get on the board until there was 5:27 on the clock in the opening period. But after that early run, Stanford would make just two if its next 19 attempts from the floor and trailed 27-16 at the break.
Stanford got within seven midway through the third quarter when Tess Heal hit a 3-pointer, but the Tigers immediately put the game out of reach with a 12-0 run over a quick two-minutes stretch that saw Clemson sink four 3-pointers.
The Cardinal will await their postseason fate when brackets for the NCAA Tournament and WBIT are announced on Sunday, March 16.
