Berry Blasts Two Home Runs for Series Sweep

Cardinal run-rules Syracuse 9-0 in six innings

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 19 Stanford picked up the program’s first ACC series sweep today, with Jade Berry’s five RBI and two home runs powering a 9-0 win over Syracuse in six innings. The Cardinal moves to 17-3 on the season and 5-1 in ACC play, including a perfect 12-0 start at home.

Stanford started the scoring early, with Berry racing home to score from third on a wild pitch in the second inning.

In the third, Stanford added two more runs thanks to three-straight two-out singles. Berry brought in the first run, then came around to score on a hit from Joie Economides.

Three more runs scored for Stanford in the bottom of the fourth – River Mahler drove in two with an RBI double, then Berry hit a solo home run to make a 6-0 Cardinal lead. Mahler extended her team-leading RBI total to 24, a new career best.

Zoe Prystajko finished her day in the circle after the fifth inning, throwing five shutout innings with just two hits allowed. Kylie Chung posted a scoreless inning of relief, striking out two and allowing just one hit in the top of the sixth.

Berry struck for even more damage in the sixth, crushing a three-run homer to walk off the game in run-rule fashion, with a 9-0 final score.

Berry finished the day 3-for-3 with five RBI and four runs scored, homering twice and adding a walk.

The Cardinal is back at home next weekend for the DeMarini Invitational. Stanford opens the weekend on Thursday against Cal Baptist at 4:30 p.m. PT. Tickets are available at Tickets.GoStanford.com, and all games will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
