STANFORD, Calif. – No. 9 Stanford men’s tennis capped a weekend sweep in ACC play with a 4-0 win over No. 25 Florida State. Stanford improves to 10-4 this season and 2-2 in the ACC.
Stanford earned the advantage in the contest after rallying from early deficits in doubles, taking a 1-0 lead in the match. Max Basing and Kyle Kang secured a 6-4 win on court two, while Nico Godsick and Henry von der Schulenburg picked up a victory in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (1).
Samir Banerjee quickly extended the Cardinal lead to 2-0, winning 12 of 13 total games in a 6-0, 6-1 win over the nation’s 19th-ranked player. Godsick pushed the advantage to 3-0 with a straight sets win of his own, 6-3, 7-5, on court six.
Stanford had chances to clinch the match on multiple courts, but Razeghi powered through for his eighth dual win of the season, which co-leads the team with von der Schulenburg, 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.
Stanford continues its four-match homestand on Thursday, March 13 at 5:30 p.m. against Notre Dame.
