Chien Finishes in Tie for Fourth

Leigh Chien earns the best finish of her collegiate career

SAN FRANCISCO — The final round of the 2025 USF Invitational took place on Tuesday morning at the historic Olympic Club in San Francisco. Both Leigh Chien and Caroline Sturdza continued to show improvement from rounds one through three, both posting their best rounds of the week to close out play in the Bay Area.

Chien was one of the biggest movers of the entire field on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for fourth overall after posting a 1-under 70 in the final round. It took a little while for her to get going, but once she did, she had three birdies on her back nine to finish right at 70. Her weeklong scores of 75-73-70-218 gave her the best finish of her collegiate career and her second top five after also doing so during the Stanford Invitational in October.

Sturdza posted her second-straight 3-over 74 with her performance on Tuesday, but did so this time by recording three birdies, with two of them on her front nine. As a matter of fact, her birdies on 17 and 18 put her amongst the leaders for the day at the time. Sturdza finished up the week with her third-best rounds of the season on consecutive days.

Seven Stanford golfers will tee off at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, which begins on Wednesday morning at 5:00 am PT. The amateur event will run through Saturday, April 5.
