No. 13 Stanford Starts Postseason Run in Utah

The Cardinal takes on No. 4 Utah, No. 18 Denver and the winner of No. 32 BYU/Utah State in the second round of the NCAA Regional Championships in Salt Lake City

QUICK STICKS

  • The 2025 ACC Champion No. 13 Stanford Cardinal starts its postseason run to the NCAA Championships Thursday, April 2, in the second round of the NCAA Regional Championships hosted by No. 4 Utah in Salt Lake City.
  • Stanford's first taste of postseason action against No. 1 Seed (No. 4 nationally) Utah, No. 18 Denver, and the winner of No. 32 BYU vs. No. 32 Utah State in the Jon. M Huntsman Center is set for a 6 p.m. PT start and will be televised on ESPN+.   On the call for the meet are Jason Ross Jr. as the play-by-play broadcaster and Bridget Sloan as the analyst.
  • The Cardinal brought home the university’s first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) title Saturday, March 22, posting a season-high score of 197.775 at the 2025 ACC Women's Gymnastics Championship. Stanford won the event with the best team score of the conference championship meet's history, followed by California (197.650), North Carolina (197.225), and N.C. State (196.500). The ACC title win by Stanford came off the program's tied-for-sixth-best team total, guided by its second-best bars rotation in the school's history and the tied-for-eighth-best floor score in the Cardinal's record book.
  • At the 2025 ACC Championship, Stanford earned one outright apparatus title and shares of all other event titles on its way to its conference title, its first team conference championship since the 2008 season. Junior Taralyn Nguyen earned sole ownership of the vault title with a career-best 9.975, freshman Ui Soma won a share of the bars title with a perfect 10.000, sophomore Temple Landry won a share of the beam event crown with a 9.900, and junior Anna Roberts secured a share of the floor’s top honor with a career-best matching 9.950. Roberts also brought home a share of the all-around title, scoring a 39.625 to tie with California’s Mya Lauzon. Nguyen, Roberts, Soma, senior Anapaula Gutierrez, Landry, junior Claire Dean, freshman Alana Walker and sophomore Sienna Robinson were all named to the All-Championship Team for their incredible performances in Greensboro.
  • Senior Brenna Neault, junior Anna Roberts and freshman Ui Soma earned Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) regular season Second Team All-American honors, the association announced Monday, March 31.  Neault was honored as a member of the balance beam team while Roberts was selected to the vault team and Soma was appointed to the uneven bars squad. Stanford’s three honorees are the most in a single year since the 2015 season, when six Cardinal earned all-American (regular season and NCAA) honors. All three earn the first regular-season all-American honors of their careers, while Roberts tabs her fourth overall all-American distinction after her three awards at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
  • Five members of the Stanford women’s gymnastics team were named to the All-ACC Gymnastics Team, the league announced Monday, March 17. The Cardinal’s five different selectees are the most of any ACC program and tie the program’s record for all-conference awardees in a single season (5 different athletes also earned all-conference honors in 2009, 2010, and 2011).  Junior Anna Roberts was honored as one of the conference's best on Vault, Bars, and Floor, one of only five athletes to earn more than one all-conference recognition. Freshman Ui Soma was selected to the all-conference team for her bars efforts throughout the season, one of only two freshmen in the league to be honored as all-ACC team members. Senior Brenna Neault and sophomores Temple Landry and Sienna Robinson each earned nods to the All-ACC team for their beam performances in 2025 as the Cardinal led the way with the most all-conference selections on the apparatus.
  • Stanford has earned a 197.000-or-better score in seven meets this season, matching the program's record for scores topping the 197.000 threshold in a single campaign set in 2004. In 2004, Stanford finished the year tied for third place at NCAAs, as the program made its second-ever appearance at the NCAA Super Six. The Cardinal will look to write a new record as it starts its postseason tournament run on Thursday.
