BOISE, Idaho – No. 15 Stanford slugged five home runs today to win 14-0 at Boise State in just five innings. The Cardinal exploded for an eight-run fourth inning to move to 27-8 on the season.

The Cardinal struck first with two runs in the first inning, scoring twice after a throwing error followed a Kyra Chan single.

Zoe Prystajko followed it up with a shutdown inning in the circle, working out of a bases-loaded jam to send the game to the second with Stanford leading 2-0.

Three more runs came across for the Card in the third, thanks to back-to-back home runs from River Mahler and Jade Berry. The pair now both have seven home runs on the year, tied for the third-most on the team.

In the bottom of the third, Emily Jones made a lunging grab deep in the gap in left center to finish the inning and strand the bases loaded again for the Broncos.

The Cardinal bats took advantage, exploding in the fourth for eight runs on five hits. Three of the five hits were home runs, as Sydney Boulaphinh, Kylie Chung and Taryn Kern all went yard after Mahler drove in another run with an RBI double.

Chung then stepped into the circle in the home half of the fourth, posting a one-two-three inning. Prystajko finished the game with no runs allowed on just two hits, picking up her ninth win of the season.

Another run came across in the top of the fifth, thanks to an RBI single from Caelan Koch to make it 14-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

Chung iced the game in the fifth to finish with a pair of scoreless innings in relief, striking out two.

The five home runs on the day bring Stanford’s season total to 61, just the second 60+ homer season in program history and just six shy of the most in a single season.

Kern’s 14th homer of the season ties her for the third-most in a single season in program history, joining Jessica Mendoza who did it twice, most recently in 2002.

Stanford is back against the Broncos at 11:00 a.m. PT tomorrow, with the game streamed on Mountain West Network.
