LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the second consecutive season, four members of the Stanford beach volleyball program were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Teams, as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Stanford's ones pair member sophomore Ruby Sorra was named to the All-America First Team while her partner senior Taylor Wilson and the Cardinal's twos pair sophomore Brooke Rockwell and freshman Avery Jackson. Wilson, Sorra and Rockwell each earn their second all-American recognition, as Rockwell was a first-team honoree in 2024 and both Sorra and Wilson were second-team awardees last season. Jackson is one of just three freshmen selected to the AVCA’s All-America teams this year and her honor marks the second consecutive season that a Cardinal first-year athlete was honored by the coaches association.
Paired together for the second season, Wilson and Sorra have amassed 18 wins as a duo in 2025 and 43 victories overall, making them the winningest pair in school history. The pair has spent the season at both the ones and twos spots of the lineup, capturing nine victories at each position. As individuals, Wilson has captured 27 wins throughout the 2025 season, the most of her career while Sorra has posted 25 victories, just one shy of her record of 26 wins in a single season set in 2024.
Rockwell and Jackson were paired for 20 of the Cardinal’s 39 matches this season, posting a 14-6 record as a duo with nine victories at the twos lineup position and five as the Cardinal’s ones pair. The pair clinched Stanford’s upset victory over then-No. 3 Cal Poly at the Center of Effort Challenge, besting the Mustangs’ Izzy Martinez/Logan Walter in a come-from-behind three-set win. Individually, Jackson and Rockwell have collected 21 and 23 wins throughout the season, respectively.
Stanford enters the 2025 NCAA Championship as the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 14 seed Boise State in the first round of the tournament Friday, May 3 at 12 p.m. PT (2 p.m. CT) in Gulf Shores, Ala. The matchup between the Broncos and Cardinal will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
