COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Cardinal gymnasts Taylor Burkhart and Asher Hong earned individual conference titles on Saturday afternoon, as No. 2 Stanford men's gymnastics finished as conference runners-up at the MPSF Championships. The Cardinal posted a season-high 328.950 but was unable to retain the conference championship after winning each of the previous three.
The MPSF title will instead return to Oklahoma, as the top-ranked Sooners edged out Stanford with a 329.250 team score. California finished third with a 315.450, followed by a 313.350 by host Air Force.
Along with the pair of individual titles from Burkhart and Hong, Stanford led the four competing teams with 10 individual podium finishes.
Burkhart, the 2025 MPSF Gymnast of the Year, paced the field on floor exercise with a 14.350, matching his season-best routine to secure the first individual conference title of his career. The Nissen-Emery award finalist also finished second on vault with a 14.200 and earned a share of third on high bar with a 13.850 effort.
Hong tallied his fourth career MPSF individual title, posting a 14.800 to win the still rings crown for the second consecutive season. The Tomball, Texas native added a 14.200 routine on floor exercise to finish in a tie for second, along with a third-place vault score of 14.150.
Colt Walker, the 2022 MPSF champion on parallel bars, registered a 14.000 to finish runner-up in the event this season. Walker also turned in a solid routine on still rings, scoring a 13.750 to finish fourth.
Fellow fifth-year senior Brandon Nguyen added a silver medal of his own, scoring a 14.100 on high bar for Stanford's best routine on the event this season. Nguyen also finished sixth on parallel bars with a 13.700 score.
Khoi Young, also a finalist for this year's Nissen-Emery award, was the Cardinal's third individual runner-up after earning silver on pommel horse with a 14.450 in his lone event of the conference championships.
Jeremy Bischoff rounded out the Cardinal's podium finishers with a 13.900 on parallel bars, while freshman Cooper Kim tied his career-high on floor exercise with a 14.150 to finish fourth.
Stanford will now prepare for the NCAA Championships from April 19-20 in Ann Arbor, Mich., as it looks to become the first program in NCAA history to win six consecutive national titles.
