STANFORD, Calif. – Kyle Smith, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men’s Basketball, has announced the addition of AJ Rohosy (San Anselmo, Calif.). Rohosy spent two seasons at Washington State, playing for Smith, and transferred to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for the 2024-25 campaign.
“AJ has carved a unique and inspiring route to the Farm,” said Smith. “From humbling beginnings as a young player at Washington State to an All-American at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, AJ has prepared himself academically and athletically for this moment.”
Rohosy was a second-team Division III All-American last season from D3hoops as well as a College Sports Communicators first team Academic All-American. He earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the SCIAC Tournament, leading the Stags to the SCIAC Championship after scoring the game-winning basket in the closing seconds. Rohosy was also an NABC and D3hoops All-Region selection and an All-SCIAC first team recipient. He was a two-time SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week and was twice selected to the D3 Team of the Week.
After appearing in 11 games across two seasons at Washington State, Rohosy averaged a double-double at Claremont-Mudd-Scrippts with 21.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while setting a new program record for field goal percentage in a season at 64.8 percent (228-352).
“AJ is an outstanding student, a ferocious competitor, and he brings a toughness and tenacity that will make all Stanford fans proud,” continued Smith. “He is a plus athlete with versatility and maturity that will help propel us to the next phase. He can play and guard multiple positions in the frontcourt with an ability to make plays and draw fouls. His grit and toughness will help build our culture and identity for the upcoming season.”
Rohosy makes his return to the Bay Area, where he grew up in San Anselmo, California and attended Marin Catholic High School, where he was a Marin County Athletic League first team honoree in 2021.
