Men’s Tennis Earns Six ITA Regional Awards

Winners advance to the national awards ballots in their respective categories

STANFORD, Calif. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has unveiled its regional awards, and Stanford men’s tennis captured six of the eight possible awards in the Northwest region. The Cardinal is the only program nationally to win six or more in its region this season.

Senior Max Basing won three honors, claiming the prize as the ITA Northwest Region Senior Player of the Year while also taking home the region’s Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship and the Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award. Freshman Alex Razeghi was named the ITA’s Northwest Region Rookie of the Year, while Stanford swept the honors in the coaching categories. Paul Goldstein was named the ITA Northwest Region Coach of the Year and Harrison Adams was honored as the Assistant Coach of the Year.

Basing adds the three honors to an impressive awards haul this season, as the senior from Oxshott, United Kingdom was also a second team CSC Academic All-American, an All-ACC third team selection and the ACC Championships Most Valuable Player. Basing finished the season at 20-7 in singles, including a 17-4 dual record and eight wins over ranked singles opponents. Basing ended the year ranked No. 85 in singles and was ranked as high as No. 50 in doubles earlier in the season.

One of the most productive freshmen in the country, Razeghi ended his first-year campaign at 18-6 in singles, ranking second on the team in dual wins, and 14-12 in doubles. He finished the season ranked No. 40 nationally in doubles and he was named to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships All-Tournament Team at No. 2 doubles, both alongside Samir Banerjee.

Goldstein earns the top honor among coaches in the ITA’s Northwest Region for the second time in three years, also earning the award in 2023, and his fifth time overall. He was also presented the award in 2021, 2018 and 2015.

Stanford captured the assistant coach honor for the third time in four seasons, as Brandon Coupe won in 2022 and 2024, while Adams claims the honor in his first campaign at Stanford. Adams will look to join Coupe with the national award, who won the honor in 2018.

Stanford posted a 26-6 overall record in 2024-25, its most wins since 2003, while winning the ACC Championship. Stanford reached its fourth consecutive NCAA Super Regional, first NCAA quarterfinal since 2012 and first semifinal since 2003. Stanford also advanced to the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, the program’s first semifinals appearance since 2018.

All six honorees advance to the national ballots for the respective categories, with announcements coming on Thursday, June 12.
