STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men’s tennis finished a remarkable season in 2024-25, going 26-6 overall while winning an ACC Championship in its first season in the conference and advancing to the national semifinals of the NCAA Championships and the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
The Cardinal went undefeated at home, posting a 12-0 record, while the 26 total wins were tied for the fourth-most in a single-season in program history and the most since going 28-1 in 2000.
The season included the most wins in a season and the deepest postseason run under Paul Goldstein, who was named the ITA Northwest Region Coach of the Year for the fifth time, as well as the second-straight season with a conference championship, as Stanford won the 2024 Pac-12 regular season title. Harrison Adams was named the ITA Northwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year, joining fellow assistant Brandon Coupe, who is a five-time recipient of the honor as well.
SEASON REWIND
After a strong fall slate, which included an NCAA singles championship appearance from Samir Banerjee and an NCAA doubles championship berth from Banerjee and Nico Godsick, Stanford tallied 26 wins over the spring schedule, including a stretch of 13 consecutive wins that spanned March 26-May 16.
The Cardinal started the spring with a pair of wins on the road during ITA Kickoff Weekend, downing Oregon and No. 8 Oklahoma from Jan. 25-26 to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The road warriors continued its success away from home with back-to-back wins at USC and No. 25 UCLA from Feb. 1-2, marking the first LA sweep since 2021-22 and the first road sweep since 2008-09.
The first Final Four of the spring, Stanford downed No. 6 Columbia and No. 21 UCF in Waco, Texas to reach the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
One of the ACC’s elite programs, Stanford went 10-3 in the conference to earn the tournament’s No. 3 seed, including a 4-2 win over No. 9 California in the Big Slam, giving the Cardinal five consecutive Big Slam wins and victories in 12 of the last 13 against its archrival.

Stanford downed No. 17 Florida State and No. 19 Duke to reach the ACC Championship match, and it defeated No. 6 Virginia, 4-2, to raise the ACC trophy in its first season in the league.

Stanford earned the No. 4 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, which was the Cardinal’s highest since 2018, when it was also the No. 4 seed and hosted the first and second rounds. Stanford hosted the regional round for the first time since 2019, taking out No. 62 New Mexico and No. 25 Pepperdine via 4-0 scorelines. At home again for Super Regionals, Stanford blanked No. 13 South Carolina, 4-0, to advance to the NCAA finals site, Waco, Texas.

Stanford made its first NCAA semifinals appearance since 2003 after previously reaching its first quarterfinals since 2012. Max Basing, who previously clinched all three matches at the ACC Championships, clinched Stanford’s quarterfinals win over No. 12 Mississippi State, 4-3, after saving six match points and winning in a third set tiebreaker. Despite a tight matchup in the NCAA semifinals, the season came to a close against No. 1 Wake Forest, 4-2. Stanford ended the year at No. 4 in the ITA rankings.

SINGLES & DOUBLES
Samir Banerjee enjoyed a breakout campaign at No. 1 singles for Stanford, earning ITA All-America honors for the first time in his career. The junior was also a second team CSC Academic All-American and tallied All-ACC first team accolades. Banerjee finished the season ranked No. 11 in the country in singles and No. 40 in doubles, alongside Alex Razeghi, going 13-8 in singles, including 10 ranked wins and an 8-3 record against top-25 players, and 19-11 in doubles. He was also a two-time ACC Player of the Week – once in singles and once in doubles – and was named to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships All-Tournament Team at No. 2 doubles with Razeghi.
Max Basing finished his career at No. 20 on Stanford’s career dual wins list in singles, with 58, while earning numerous accolades during a standout senior season. Basing was named the ACC Championships Most Valuable Player, a CSC Academic All-America second team honoree and a third team All-ACC selection. One of the top players on the West Coast, Basing was named the ITA Northwest Region Senior Player of the Year while also taking home the region’s Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship and the Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award. Basing finished the season at 20-7 in singles, including a 17-4 dual record and eight wins over ranked singles opponents. Basing ended the year ranked No. 85 in singles and was ranked as high as No. 50 in doubles earlier in the season.

Henry von der Schulenburg, in his graduate season after an All-American career at Harvard, led the Cardinal with a 23-4 overall singles record and a 19-2 dual mark, including 16 straight wins to end the season. The Switzerland native was named to the NCAA Championships All-Tournament team at No. 4 singles, while also going 16-6 in doubles.
Alex Razeghi was named the ITA Northwest Region Rookie of the Year after his strong first season on the Farm. Razeghi went 18-6 in singles, including nine wins over ACC foes, and 14-12 in doubles. Nico Godsick went 16-6 in singles and recorded a team-best 20 doubles wins, and he was twice part of the ACC Doubles Team of the Week - once each with von der Schulenburg and Hudson Rivera. Kyle Kang went 10-0 in singles, including a 3-0 mark at No. 1 singles, and 13-9 in doubles, while Rivera posted a 9-5 mark in singles and a 10-4 record in doubles.
