Golfweek Tabs Walker as Coach of the Year

Becomes first Stanford coach to win the award

ORLANDO, Fla. —Anne Walker has been named the Golfweek Women’s College Coach of the Year, as announced on Thursday morning. This is the first time a Stanford women’s golf coach has won the award.

The Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf for the last 13 seasons, Walker is a four-time conference coach of the year recipient and a three-time WGCA coach of the year winner. This is her first time winning this annual award from Golfweek, which has been presented since 1999.

Stanford has won seven tournaments this year, tied for the most in a single season under Walker, including the team’s seventh NCAA Regional win since 2016. The Cardinal was just the second team in NCAA history to not suffer a defeat in stroke play, culminating in leading the field at the NCAA Championship by 21 strokes to enter match play as the top seed. Stanford also had six individual winners this season, and the ACC and WGCA Freshman of the Year in Meja Örtengren.

After advancing to match play as the top seed, Stanford reached the NCAA Match Play Finals for the second year in a row before falling to Northwestern 3-2 in the title match.

Under her guidance, Walker has produced 37 All-Americans in 13 years, with at least one coming every season. Stanford has also won 51 full-field tournaments during her tenure.
