Cardinal Cruises Past No. 16 LMU 15-8

Botond Balogh opens the season with six-goal performance

LOS ANGELES – The No. 3 Cardinal started the 2025 season with a dominant win at No. 16 Loyola Marymount, winning 15-8 to move to 1-0. Sophomore Botond Balogh led the way with six goals, coming off of a 31-goal freshman campaign last season.

Stanford jumped out to a commanding lead in the first quarter, going ahead 6-2 and never looking back. Six different players scored for the Card, including hat tricks from Max Zelikov and Ben Forer.

Senior West Temkin saved six shots, and dished out a pair of assists in the cage. Freshman Ben Oerlemans and grad student Gianpiero Di Martire each scored in their Stanford debuts to round out the goal contributors.

The Cardinal is back in the pool next weekend, taking on No. 14 UC Davis and American River College on Sept. 6 in Davis, Calif.
