Stanford Sends Ten to U.S. Championships

Asher Hong and Brody Malone highlight Cardinal gymnasts competing for U.S. National Team spots.

STANFORD, Calif. - Ten Cardinal gymnasts are set to compete for national titles and U.S. National Team spots at the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships, taking place August 7–10 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Men's competition is set to begin Thursday at 5 p.m. PT, with the second session scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. PT. National champions will be crowned based on cumulative scores from both days.

Following the conclusion of the meet, athletes will be selected to the 2025 U.S. Senior National Team and earn their place on the 2025 Senior World Championship roster.

Leading the Cardinal contingent are Asher Hong and alumnus Brody Malone, fresh off helping Team USA win its first Olympic team medal in 16 years with a bronze in Paris last summer. The two gymnasts have combined to win the previous four U.S. all-around titles, as Hong captured the all-around crown in 2023, while Malone boasts three national titles from 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Also representing Stanford are recent graduates Taylor Burkhart and Colt Walker, along with current student-athletes Kiran Mandava, David Shamah, and Kai Uemura.

The U.S. Championships will also offer a first look at a few of Stanford's incoming freshmen as Junnosuke Iwai, Joey Nieves, and Michael Scheiner are set to compete in the Senior Men's field.

The 2025 Xfinity U.S. Championships will air live on NBC Sports and Peacock from Thursday through Sunday in the Crescent City.
